The Birthstrike Movement 
Parents around the world are agonising about whether the world humans have created is a safe place into which to bring a baby.
It’s time to ask the politicians and CEOs of fossil fuel companies:
“Is it still a loving a responsible thing to do to bring a baby into the world you are creating?”
I am a proud grandfather of 4 and am delighted to greet the next generation as they arrive, but is also a source of deep sadness and concern. We are currently heading to over 3 degrees of warming within the lifetime of those children and our ecosystems will have broken down long before then.
The prime role of governments must surely be to ensure the future of children but they are being betrayed by short term politics.
I am currently standing as the Green Party Candidate in the General Election against Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch. I look forward to giving her a very tough time on this issue.
I am a circumnavigator, so have experienced at first hand the extreme weather events caused by our overheated oceans.
If politics cannot work, the Birthstrike Movement may be our only chance.
